Gaio Bicycle Engines

A Brief History of the Italian Marque

The Giesse s.r.l company of Gianfranco Scarpa constructed the Gaio 40cc sidevalve micromotor capable of delivering of 1.2 HP at 4,800 rpm.

The weight of the motor is 6.5 kg. It had forced air cooling by means of a fan, with transmission by roller grip.

The bicycle engine was produced in the Quadrio factory in via Savona, Milan. Production dates are believed to be 1947-1948.
